Your Connection to Great Fishing

The Unknown Angler Report

HOME                                 To The Captains and Crews

The Unknown Angler column is brought to you as a type of public service.

In this column you will find the first hand reports of trips our staff members have taken aboard both private and open party charters.  The purpose is to give you our unbiased and unsolicited opinion of the vessels and their crews before you spend your hard earned money and more importantly your valuable time on what we hope will be a great fishing trip.

You see it is unfair to judge a trip only by the fish count at the end of the day. If that is how you determine a great trip then you need to change your attitude or find something else to do.

Fishing is; enjoying the outdoors, the camaraderie of other anglers, the anticipation of the fight, as well as the tight lines and screaming drags. Do not expect that every or even most trips will result in a full sack of fish or you will be disappointed.  Yes the catch is important and we will post the results of our trips, but not as an indication of what you can expect, but rather an indication of how lucky we were.

You will play one of the most important parts in determining how much you enjoyed your trip. At the end of the day ask yourself the the following, Was being out fishing today more enjoyable than mowing the yard, painting a room, cleaning the garage, or slaving away at work? Did I pass along a tip or give advice to someone that will help them to become a better angler? Did I loose my big fish because I didn't check the strength of my knot, or the tension of my drag? When another less experienced angler tangled my line, did I remember the days that I tangled others? And when the Capitan couldn't find a fish all day, wasn't it a joy just to be underway?
